Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NutriLens Health (“NutriLens,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you use the NutriLens mobile application or visit this website.
1. Information You Provide
Depending on the features you choose to use, NutriLens may allow you to enter or submit:
- Name, username, and email address
- Profile photo
- Height, weight, goal weight, and fitness goals
- Daily calorie and water goals
- Meal details and nutrition information
- Food images selected from your device or camera
- Questions and prompts submitted to the AI Coach
2. No Online Account Required
NutriLens does not currently require you to create an online account. The profile you create inside the app is a local app profile and is not currently stored in Firebase or another NutriLens user-account database.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
Profile information, meal history, nutrition goals, saved-food information, water tracking, weight tracking, preferences, and related app data are generally stored locally on your device.
Local information may be removed when you use available deletion controls inside the app, clear the app’s local data, or delete the app from your device.
4. Food Image Analysis
When you choose to analyze a food image, NutriLens sends that image over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our backend service. The image is then transmitted to an artificial intelligence service to identify the food and generate estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat.
Our current application backend does not intentionally save food images to a NutriLens user database after the requested analysis is completed.
5. AI Coach
When you submit a question to the AI Coach, the text of your question is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our backend and then processed by an artificial intelligence service to generate a response.
Do not include highly sensitive personal information, passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, or information you do not want processed by a third-party service.
6. Artificial Intelligence Processing and Retention
NutriLens currently uses OpenAI’s API for AI-powered food analysis and AI Coach responses. OpenAI may generate abuse-monitoring logs for API usage and may retain certain API request and response data for up to 30 days by default, unless a different retention setting applies or longer retention is required by law.
NutriLens does not use submitted food images or AI Coach questions for advertising or cross-app tracking.
7. How We Use Information
- Provide food recognition and nutrition estimates
- Provide AI-generated nutrition and fitness guidance
- Personalize goals and app features
- Display and manage locally saved meals and progress
- Maintain the functionality, reliability, and security of the service
- Respond to support, privacy, or legal inquiries
8. Third-Party Service Providers
- OpenAI — AI-powered food analysis and AI Coach responses
- Render — backend hosting and request processing
- Cloudflare — domain registration, website hosting, security, DNS, and content delivery
These providers process information under their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and legal obligations.
9. Camera and Photo Library Permissions
NutriLens requests access to your camera or photo library only when needed for features you choose to use, such as taking or selecting a food image. You can manage these permissions at any time in your device settings.
10. Data Selling, Advertising, and Tracking
NutriLens does not sell your personal information. NutriLens does not currently use your information for third-party advertising or track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored information remains on your device until you delete it through available app controls, clear the app’s local data, or delete the app.
NutriLens does not currently maintain an online user account that requires an account-deletion request. Information processed by third-party providers may be retained according to their applicable policies, security requirements, and legal obligations.
12. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted HTTPS connections and keeping private API credentials on the backend instead of embedding them directly in the mobile application.
No electronic transmission, storage method, or service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
13. Children’s Privacy
NutriLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to NutriLens, contact us so we can review the request.
14. Health and Medical Disclaimer
NutriLens provides general educational nutrition and fitness information only. NutriLens is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
Food recognition results, calorie estimates, macronutrient estimates, and AI-generated responses may be incomplete or inaccurate. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant health, nutrition, or exercise decisions.
15. International Use
Information submitted for AI processing may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, depending on the infrastructure and service providers used to deliver the requested feature.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
